Norway - Faroe - Iceland
Before leaving home to travel to Norway and Iceland, a war was raging in my head over which camera to bring. Nola, my go-to camera, was furious with me for wanting to bring along a color camera. Oh yes, Nola is a monochrome camera that cannot capture color images, and for certain I am primarily a black-and-white photographer. I believe that black and white is “true” photography, because it removes the reality connection of color, which, in turn, forces the viewer to step out of the “real world” and deal with subject matter as an object. A trip to the reputedly-colorful Norway and Iceland would require me to carry at least two cameras.
Yes, Nola and I are joined at the hip. She was screaming and crying to leave “that colorful commercial hunk” at home. Eventually I opted to bring both, much to Nola’s disappointment. She sulked all the way to Oslo.
