This is the third in the series of photographs I made while walking the streets of Paris, France during the month of May, 2023. I suspect there will be one or two more posts following this one.
My intention was to be a Flaneur. The term Flâneur is derived from the Old Norse verb flana, "to wander with no purpose" popularized by the French author, Charles Baudelaire, in the 19th century. But, as the 3119 images I made will attest, I did have a purpose.
As you can well imagine, 3119 images present a serious editing problem. When I was in undergraduate school earning my B.A. in Photojournalism, I had a professor who attempted to instill in me the “art” of editing. His often-used phrase was, “Chop Fearlessly.” Hardheaded as I am, I definitely had some difficulty chopping up my creations. Eventually, after some serious angst, I learned the truth of his mantra. Consequently, the first edit of my Paris photos saw 2274 heads roll, with another 400-500 on the block waiting for the guillotine.
Thank you for viewing my photographs, and if you enjoy them, please like, comment and tell your friends. Alex
People one wouldn’t expect to see in Paris. Homeless, families, everyday people just hanging out. Enjoyed them all
excellent, Alex, and I love the portrait of our dear Michelle.
